Turkey Foot Falls – Trip Details
You can reach this beautiful fall with just a 15-minute hike from the parking area. You can park across the bridge near the small trail on the south side of Cranal Road and head down to the falls across the road. You’ll be able to hear Mize Mill Falls from the road itself.
Follow the old road along the side of the canyon, and a path will split off to descend down into the canyon after about 100 yards. If you go straight, it gets pretty thick quickly, so you don’t have to worry too much about missing your turn.
After descending the scramble down into the canyon, you can continue climbing down to your left to get a closer look at Mize Mill Falls. Or, hang a right and hug the canyon walls to go directly to Turkey Foot Falls, about 300 yards downstream from here.
More Waterfalls around Bankhead National Forest
Turkey Foot Falls is near to a lot of waterfalls in the area, including the popular Mize Mill Falls. So, you can easily make it one stop of many on a day or a weekend trip visiting the Sipsey Wilderness area. In the same area, you can also visit Falls Creek Falls, Eagle Creek Falls, Deer Skull Falls, or Little Ugly Falls.
This hike, in particular, is a perfect getaway for people who can’t do a long hike since it’s only a few minutes walk from the parking area.

Looks like the wrong map.
Thanks, I’ve got a gpx file of this one that I need to tweak and upload!
Has the map been updated?
Turkey Foot Falls is located near the Sipsey River Picnic Grounds and Recreation Area. Visitors should park just across the wooden bridge in the lower parking area and follow the trail underneath the highway bridge. The trail bends to the left and follow it for about a half mile or so and the falls will be on the right.
The map is correct. Hiked it a couple of weeks ago
Thanks, glad you had a good time!
